If you have recently welcomed a new baby to the family, you will know how important it is to look after their health and wellbeing.

Australian health insurance can help you to take care of your loved ones, with a family health insurance plan able to assist in providing the appropriate medical treatment and care.

The Australian government launched the Pregnancy, Birth and Baby website on January 22, to help strengthen the helpline's service.

The website is aimed at improving access to support and expert help for women and their partners and families, and is a response to the "growing demand" for first-time Australian mums wanting this information online.

"Recent trends show that first-time mothers are increasingly using the internet as a principal research tool for health and well-being information" said Healthdirect Australia chief executive officer Colin Seery.

"The broadening of the national Pregnancy, Birth and Baby service therefore ensures that it caters to an audience more comfortable with searching for information on the internet, as well as those seeking the personal touch of a phone call."

The website features 130 pages of content that has been reviewed and endorsed by clinicians from Healthdirect Australia's clinical governance unit.
