When we talk about seemingly magical uses for modern technology, it is difficult to look beyond how it's used in the medical industry. After all, the accidental discovery of penicillin in 1928 changed the world, as did the first prototypes that eventually became the MRI machine in 1977.

Many organisations will always strive for the best - the best products, offices, brand image, etc. Achieving this also means having employees who can similarly be called "the best" at what they do.

However, many companies - big and small - are finding it difficult to attract the right talent.

The federal government has sent out a word of warning to uninsured Australians. It's been a complicated 12 months for Medibank Private. The largest health insurance provider in Australia underwent a transformation last year when it decided to launch on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).

The newly privatised company will undergo another directional change as it looks to revitalise its brand image from an "expensive" health fund, The Australian reports.

We've focused recently on the power of a corporate health insurance plan in attracting, selecting and ultimately hiring key talent.

In many ways, a company is only as good as its employees, so being able to recruit the best people in a competitive market is a great advantage for a business of any size.

Australia is an attractive place for foreign citizens to come and work. Our weather is the envy of much of the world, and when you consider such natural wonders as Uluru, The Great Barrier Reef, and our miles of white sand beaches, it's easy to see why many choose to join us Down Under.

There's also the relatively healthy job market, which welcomes workers who have particular skills, allowing our economy to strengthen in the process.

When starting your health insurance policy, it's important to be in the know. While some people find the concept a little confusing, a quick talk with their insurance broker should be enough to clear up any issues or concerns people may typically have.

After all, the health industry is a rather complex one, and certain terms can create confusion - and many sound rather ominous in themselves. One that may fall into both of these categories is the medical gap.
